Matt is a long time Georgia native. He has worked in real estate, finance and even a union job. But none of these jobs ever provided the purpose or fulfillment he was looking for. Quite a few years back.he had a brief experience with a small pup that turned his household upside down. He was quite troubled that a dog that had so much love could be so problematic. He began to ask what an owner could do to improve life for both pet and owner. Although he had no inkling that this would blossom into a career it was the beginning of an amazing journey. Since that time Matt developed a powerful interest in problem solving for dogs and owners. In 2008 Matt decided it was time to look into a new career path and took a leap of faith to pursue his passion for dogs and see if it could be more rewarding than the nine to five grind. Small beginnings in volunteering at rescues and working a few local trainers and kennels lead him to Dog Wizard. Matt loved their philosophy and after meeting the staff, was invited to join the academy. Today Matt is happier than ever to be doing what he loves – helping dogs and their owners find balance and happier relationships.

Penny and Porter

Porter is a boxer-french mastiff mix rescued by Matt’s wife before they met. The shelter named him “hooch” for good reason. After a failed adoption because of his rambunctious energy and unmanageability around children Matt’s wife decided he was worth the challenge and was brave enough to try to rehabilitate him and provide a loving home. She renamed him Porter and took him to the vet & found out he was only a few months old and was going to gain another 40-50 pounds. Thank God Laurie met Matt! She was running out of shoes, sofas, and TV remotes. Their determination to help him turned in to lots of long walks, a better behaved dog and a wedding to boot! Thanks Porter! Now Porter is a great help to Matt when helping other dogs learn to socialize. He loves going to work with Matt and can be see occasionally at group class.

Penny is Matt’s special girl. She was rescued from a local Atlanta rescue group. He fell in love with her precious mug and could not resist making her a part of the family pack. She is always full of joy and loves to cuddle. She had a hard start in life and still has a few limitations as a result, but don’t tell her that. She loves, loves baths and long walks on beach. He could not love this little girl more! Penny loves to nurture and be a positive role model to all the “students”.

Amy Campbell

Amy is a recent transplant to Charlotte, and The Dog Wizard is very lucky to have her on the team! Amy has a very important role with being the first point of contact for Dog Wizard clients. She helps manage the day-to-day needs, phone calls, and appointments which she does flawlessly. The best part about her job is not only getting to talk with clients about their dogs but also having her rescue mutt, Winston, hang out with her all day! We would be lost without her.

Noelle Woodhead

Noelle has been part of The Dog Wizard family since she started her path as a trainer in Charleston SC in 2012. After 5 years in the Lowcountry and 4 years of helping dogs and their owners to have a better life, it was time to get back to her roots in New Jersey. It was a tough decision not to be hands on with owners and their dogs but now as the office manager she gets to continue to be part of the wizard family and clients lives! Her first hand knowledge of the training side adds a huge benefit to the day to day operations in the office. It helps us be more efficient, creating processes to help better our clients experience as she understands our clients needs that much more! Whether you are a first time caller or a current client, Noelle’s passion for canine’s and their people exudes from the moment you start talking to her. She has an unending love for her three dogs Lexi, Trinity and her newest addition Huckleberry as well as the man that stands by her side, Evan. Noelle is focusing on field trial obedience with Huckleberry and has the pleasure of frequenting the river with the dogs and exploring the beautiful trails and landscape of The Garden State.
